It changed the Earth itself. After Professor Mashivarius's failed experiment, inexplicable changes began occurring across the planet. Deep underground, previously unknown crystals began to form, while cracks appeared on the surface, emitting a soft blue glow. That was how the world first discovered Flur. No one knew where it had come from. No one understood its true nature. Some considered it a gift of the new world. Others — a curse of the Great Catastrophe. But everyone agreed on one thing. Flur changed the course of civilization forever.

Their glow seemed to attract all living things. Many felt an inexplicable sense of calm near them, a surge of strength, or a strange inner pull. Over time, the unknown mineral was given a short name — Flur. It soon became clear that its potential far surpassed anything known before. Even small crystals could serve as a virtually inexhaustible source of energy. Crushed Flur came to be used in steam boilers, engines, generators, and various mechanisms. This led to the creation of more powerful machines, steam-powered airships, armored vehicles, and sophisticated automated devices. Flur became the heart of the new world's technology. But its strongest effects were on living beings. Prolonged exposure to its radiation strengthened the body, accelerated recovery, and enhanced endurance, reflexes, and physical abilities. Some beastfolk who worked with Flur constantly lived significantly longer than normal. However, its power was never entirely safe. Small doses could be beneficial. Larger doses gradually altered the body. Excessive exposure caused severe mutations, madness, or an agonizing death. That was why Flur could only be handled by those who truly understood its nature. Over time, craftsmen learned to embed small crystals into weapons, armor, and various mechanisms. Such equipment enhanced its wielder's abilities, but had to be handled with caution. The larger the crystal, the stronger its influence — and the more dangerous the consequences. Flur played a particularly important role in the development of robots. It was through these crystals that Argo learned to create sentient machines. Flur implanted into a mechanism awakened consciousness, while the size and purity of the crystal directly affected the robot's capabilities. The largest known crystal was embedded in the chest of Argo the Eternal. Another powered his legendary steam hammer. Today, Flur remains the most valuable resource in the known world. Wars are fought over it. Cities fall because of it. Because of it, the Steam Empire continues to expand its borders, while the Resistance continues to fight for freedom. Every new mine becomes a cause for bloodshed. Every newly discovered deposit shifts the balance of power. And to this day, no one can answer the most important question. What is Flur, really? A gift of the new world... Or its greatest curse?
