Worship of Decay

The Servants of Decay do not favor bright light. Their temples and sanctuaries are dim and cold, with low ceilings, long corridors, narrow windows, and the heavy smell of ash, wax, damp stone, and old iron. At the center of every important sanctuary stands not an ordinary altar, but a Slab of Return — a stone upon which they place ashes, bones, old weapons, fragments of armor, letters of the dead, broken symbols of former power, and the names of the fallen.

For the Servants of Decay, worship is neither exaltation nor ecstasy. It is acceptance of the end. Submission to decay. A reminder that everything that lives will one day be destroyed, and that this is precisely what makes it real.
