# Light, Decay, and Flur

{% hint style="info" %}
**It is important to understand:** the power of Light and the power of Decay do not exist separately from the nature of the world. Both are connected to Flur — the ancient force that transformed animals, brought machines to life, distorted flesh, and revealed new laws to the world.
{% endhint %}

The Servants of Decay channel this power through decomposition, bones, dead flesh, and the Rite of Return. They raise the body without restoring the soul, turning the fallen into undead.

The Children of Light channel this same underlying power differently: through Flur crystals, prayer, willpower, healing, seals of Light, the paladin's oath, and the Invocation of the First Ray. Their goal is not to control dead flesh, but to preserve life, cleanse wounds, restore the soul, and reestablish the bond between the body and the living essence.

This is why it is not “magic” in the conventional fairy-tale sense. It is the transformation of Flur's power through faith, the body, ritual, crystal, and the will of its wielder.

To the Children of Light, Flur is a dangerous but sacred conduit. It must not be used crudely, as the Steam Empire does, nor surrendered to decay, as the Servants of Decay do. It must be purified, guided, and channeled through the Light.
